Town History
At College Station Fencing, we’re proud to serve the historic town of Navasota, Texas—an area with deep roots and rich cultural heritage. First settled in the early 1820s, Navasota blossomed into a vital railroad town after the Houston & Texas Central Railway laid tracks through the area in 1859. That rail line turned the city into a regional hub for shipping and commerce, setting the stage for over a century of growth. Today, remnants of this storied past can still be seen in the beautifully preserved downtown district, where historic buildings lend charm and character to the community. In 2005, the Texas Legislature recognized Navasota as the official “Blues Capital of Texas,” a nod to iconic bluesman Mance Lipscomb, who called the city home. As a local fence contractor, we respect that legacy and aim to contribute to the city’s forward momentum by helping homeowners and businesses enhance their properties with security and style.
Area Sports
Sports are a way of life in Navasota, and we love seeing the community rally behind their local athletes. Navasota High School—home of the Rattlers—fields competitive teams in football, basketball, tennis, cross country, and more. The school’s football team in particular has earned a strong regional reputation, and Friday nights come alive with the spirit and energy only Texas high school football can deliver. In addition to school sports, Navasota offers well-kept athletic fields and youth leagues through its Parks and Recreation Department. These programs keep kids active and give families more ways to connect. At College Station Fencing, we often work on fencing solutions for athletic complexes and backyard practice areas, helping local athletes stay safe and focused on the game.
Local Attractions
There’s no shortage of things to do in Navasota, and we’re lucky to work in a city that values history, the arts, and community events. The Historic Downtown Railroad District is a favorite destination for both residents and visitors, with its vintage storefronts, public art, and seasonal festivals. For live entertainment, the Sunny Furman Theatre offers performances that showcase local talent and bring neighbors together. The city also hosts frequent events that celebrate Navasota’s unique culture—from farmers markets to music festivals that echo its blues heritage. As a local business, we thrive in this environment of community pride and hospitality. Every project we complete adds to the fabric of a town that’s as inviting as it is enduring.
City Parks
When we're not building fences, many of us enjoy the peaceful green spaces scattered throughout Navasota. Brule Park is a local staple with its large playscape, covered picnic areas, and convenient access to the municipal swimming pool. A short drive away, August Horst Park offers a sprawling layout with walking trails, sports fields, a dog park, and even a disc golf course—making it one of the city’s most versatile recreation areas. The city also maintains smaller parks like Cleveland Park and Ketchum Park, giving every neighborhood access to outdoor enjoyment. We believe well-maintained fencing enhances these public areas by creating safe, defined spaces for families and children to enjoy. It’s part of why we love what we do here in Navasota.
Major Residential Neighborhoods
Our work takes us into every corner of Navasota, and it’s always a pleasure to serve the diverse range of neighborhoods that make up this growing city. In the heart of town, the City Center area features a blend of modest single-family homes and rental properties, creating a welcoming, suburban vibe. On the outskirts, neighborhoods like Vista Hills offer larger homes on more expansive lots—ideal for customized fencing solutions that provide both privacy and curb appeal. Newer developments and planned communities are also emerging, especially to the north of the city, as more families discover the affordability and charm Navasota has to offer. At College Station Fencing, we’re committed to helping homeowners in every neighborhood feel confident and secure in their outdoor spaces.
